A Special Pair: Rogue and Storm

We have a reduced adoption fee due to our time in care.
Adopt both of us for $300.

We have been in care for 600+ days. Ask about us today!

Hi, my name is Storm and if you are looking for a cute little girl with lots of attitude then I would be the purrfect fit for you. I came into WHARF over a year ago with my sister Rogue and several other cats and kittens. Most of the other kittens have found their forever homes and now it is my turn. Don’t let my small size fool you, I am feisty and full of energy. I am very affectionate and love to be held, on my terms. I was not fed good food before I came into WHARF so I have a sensitive stomach and need a special diet, but this is easily managed. I am great with other cats and enjoy teasing the dog I live with. I have lived my whole life with my sister Rogue and would love to go to a home with her if you are looking for a fantastic pair of tuxedo cats. I am spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped.

Meow, I am Rogue and I am a beautiful independent tuxedo cat who likes to do things my own way. I am a bit shy and really don’t like sudden movements. If you give me some time I know we will become very close and then I won’t be able to get enough of your pets and cuddles. I am very active and love to play (laser, fishing, feathers). While my foster mom is at work, I spend my time watching the birds and squirrels in the yard, climbing things, and hanging out with my sister Storm. I would really like to go with her to a new home. I was not fed good food before I came into WHARF so I have a sensitive stomach and need a special diet, but this is easily managed. I am spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and tattooed

Bones

How do you use this thing?

Bones is a special kitty looking for someone to appreciate his unique style! Bones has a mild neurological condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia – most commonly know as “Wobbly Cat Syndrome”. Despite his lack of balance and tendency to run in circles, Bones has no issues running, jumping, or playing. He gets tired quickly so he’ll need to crawl into your lap for a minute before he’s back in action! Bones is very affectionate and high energy. He’s looking for a home with cats his own age or someone to keep him company throughout the day. CH cats bring a rare and special energy to any household. Please consider this special boy for your loving home!

Age: 1 year
Breed: DSH
Location: Edmonton
Intake: February 2019
Adoption Fee: $180

Cerebellar hypoplasia is a disease that denotes an inadequate development of the cerebellum, a section of the brainstem largely responsible for modulating motor impulses. Affected dogs and cats therefore fail to move normally, especially when it comes to maintaining normal balance, posture, and coordination.

Some pets are functional and make acceptable pets. The deficits are generally permanent but non-progressive. Some symptoms may appear to improve as the pet adapts to their abilities. Their life span is normal.

Ruby

We would love to be adopted together. We are sisters and best friends! Now that we are done nursing we are living at the WHARF shelter at 10724 107 St. Drop in and meet us!

Cherry and Ruby here! We came from a small hoarding house with an elderly man who really liked cats. Cherry came in with Ruby and we each had a litter of kittens a few days apart but since we were such good mommas and best friends we co-nursed all the kittens together. We came into WHARF and our kittens were old enough we got to go into foster care. My foster home adores me, I am the perfect cat and I love being in a busy house. I have little kids, cats, dogs and guinea pigs to play with all day. I am playful, love to be pet and love to sit on the back of the couch looking out the window. We are very good girls and don’t wreck anything and are very respectful of the furniture in the house. We are spayed, vaccinated, de-wormed and tattooed. Come and meet us!

Clove

Clove is my name and I came into care with my brother, who has already been adopted, from an abandoned farm where we were living in a woodpile. Someone came and rescued us and brought us to Wharf. I think we were alone for a very long time because we were so emaciated that we could not even run away from the man who came to get us. We just laid there cold and hungry. WHARF immediately put us in good hands where they made sure we had access to tons of food and water all the time. We couldn’t regulate our own body temperature from being so skinny to so we lived on heat pads for a few weeks. Now I am plump, healthy, my coat is so shiny and soft and I have energy to play! I love my life so much right now but I hear there is something better than this. A forever home. I am hoping to get this one day soon. I love other animals and they help me not be so scared. I have learned a lot from them and I hope to not be the only cat in the house as I have alway had a friend by my side. I am neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed and tattooed.

Dandy

Why does it look like my head is floating? Well some humans gave me a haircut and they did not do a good job! They shaved my whole body! Sure my hair was tangled and yucky but now I’m NUDE! I am not too happy about this situation. The humans insist I will feel better once my matted hair is gone and I can heal. I have some sores behind my ears that I am working on healing. I have to wear a cone to remind me not to scratch at my sores. I’m just having a rough time right now. This doesn’t mean I don’t want to get adopted. I DO. I need a family who can commit to never making me nude again. Can you imagine how hard it is to get adopted with a cone and no fur?? Please ask about me today and I will be happy to come to your house to live the spoiled house cat life. Just click that inquire on Dandy button and I’m all yours!

If you come by to see me I would be happy to take your pets and you can sweet talk to me. I am also the cat that gets chosen to take to adoption events because I am brave in new situations. I don’t mind meeting new people. So far I haven’t been adopted. Maybe because people think I’m actually a hunter! I’m not. Well maybe I can hunt mice. But other than that I’m pretty peaceful. Kiko

My name is Kiko, and I’m a 3yr old orange-and-cream tabby cat with beautiful, big, golden eyes and a nice, long, lush coat. I’m a quiet, gentle, sweet, lovely gal, and can be a bit shy at times. I do like to watch and observe what everyone is up to, though, and be in the same room as you, lounging on a blanket, couch, chair, or warm surface. If a bed is left unmade, I like to sneak into or onto the blankets and just poke my head out. I love playing with my toys, and will run, or roll around, playing with them for quite a while independently. Although I have many toys, sometimes my favourite one is the large, brown paper bag my foster mom leaves out for me to play in, hide in, and chew for fun, or something hanging for me to bat and chew.

I’m still getting used to being outside the shelter, and sometimes sneak away at loud noises or people approaching me, but everyday I adapt a tiny bit more. While I currently don’t like being held too much, and won’t sit directly on your lap all the time, I’ll let you pet me (if you don’t startle me), I like positive attention, often like being in the same room with you, and will meow back and respond to you if you talk to me. I would do really well with an owner who understands all of these things, gives me time to gradually adapt and become less timid, does not have an overly-chaotic household, and who is patient, kind, understanding, and gentle with me. If you think you’d like the company of a quiet, sweet, mild-mannered cat, come and meet me at my foster home downtown today!

Martin

I have a confession. I’m a bit of a shy guy. I really am not a fan of living at the shelter. I was there a long time. It is hard to get adopted when you are shy. When I am alone with the volunteers I am friendly and loving. But when all the strange humans come in, I feel a little scared.

This week was a good week for me because I moved to foster care where I can relax a bit. A nice foster mom came in and said I looked like I hated it there. Boy, was she right. I am mostly grey and have handsome long hair. Maybe you could ask to meet me and save me from all this looking for a family business. I am ready to go anytime. Just sign the contract and I can be your forever cat!

Muggins

I am pending adoption!

Are you tired of lonely nights on the couch? Are your current pets just not “doing it” for you? Do you have too many glasses on your kitchen counter or too few holes in your clothing? Is your furniture in a little TOO good condition? Does your home not smell enough like ammonia and tuna? Are you the kind of person who just doesn’t feel ALIVE without the omnipresent terror of a small, fragile animal constantly darting in and out between your legs as you walk? Don’t you wish there was a better way?

Well now there is!

Step right up and behold the animal that is truly the dog of cats! With the Muggins 5000™, you’ll feel like you’ve died nine times and gone to Cat Heaven™. Glued to your front door while you’re at work, eyes transfixed in a nine-hour staring contest with the inanimate object that just won’t quit, this uber-affectionate rascal absolutely cannot wait to get all up in your business. Hope you like being watched when you’re on the toilet, because six feet away is just too far for this budding interspecies pervert. Kind, gentle, and highly social, this premium hunk of sentient cat meat is adept at interfacing with his fellow felines and human lifeforms of all ages. Dogs? I don’t know, I’m not running a zoo over here. If you like his luxurious black coat, you’ll LOVE taking bits and pieces of it wherever you go. And that thing you heard about black cats being unlucky? Balderdash. His previous owners have won the lottery so many times, we don’t have enough space in this ad for the actual number.

Still not convinced? Then how about some real, totally-not-made-up testimonials from actual real-life celebrities:

“My anaconda don’t want none unless you got Muggins, hun.” –Sir Mix-a-Lot

“Muggins is grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!” –Tony the Tiger

“I thought it was all over for me until Muggins suggested I try on the gloves.” –OJ Simpson

And if all that weren’t enough, for a limited time only, we’re throwing in all the procedures he’s already had done… mainly because we can’t undo them. That’s right — for 37 easy payments of $0.00 (plus a nominal WHARF adoption fee), you’ll get the cat, the neutering, the vaccinations, the deworming, the tattooing, AND the smug sense of self-satisfaction that comes with adopting an animal. Wow, what a steal! But Muggins is a limited edition cat — only ONE unit ever made — so don’t delay, adopt today!

Prim

Prim here and I came into care from a house with too many animals. We were taken out and brought to WHARF where we could be fixed and adopted into loving homes. I am in foster care with cats dogs small animals and kids. I don’t mind them at all, but will also do great as a single cat too. I love getting pets but especially belly pets. My foster mom sees the bottom of my paws more that anything because all I do is roll onto my back whenever I see an opportunity at getting a belly rub. That also means I roll off of a lot of things like the couch, the tables, the bed, the cat tree but that just makes everyone laugh. I have a very calm personality but will play for a bit if you are up for it. I am spayed, vaccinated, de-wormed and tattooed.

Ray

I’m a girl!

My name is Ray and I have been in care for a few months, I came from a hoarding house and there was too many cats for owner to socialize all of us properly so when I was rescued I was very scared and didn’t know that humans were okay. After hiding out in my foster home for a while I decided to see what all the other cats were doing and why they hung out upstairs with people all the time. After some observing I decided to give my foster home a chance and wow being pet and snuggled is great! I started purring instantly which I am not sure if I have ever done that before and they play with us too which is also super fun. I am sad that I missed out on so much of my kitten and teenage stages being scared in house with too many animals but now that I know not all people are bad I am trying to catch up on missed times. Ritter

I came to WHARF from the SPCA so my story is a mystery. What’s certain is I was pretty skinny and had mats so I must have been living a pretty rough life on the streets. The first two days of moving to my foster home my foster mom patiently cut out the mats which at first was uncomfortable, but boy does that do a lot for one’s self esteem! I’m even pretty patient with the regular combings and glad my hair is growing back to make me the handsome boy I was meant to be. Mom says I’m handsome and have the loveliest velvety fur coat, so I’m spending more time with my grooming to make her proud. I am not finicky and really enjoy the regular meals and treats – although I may have to cut back soon. I am a big laid back kind of dude and like being close to my foster mom and getting pets and cheek rubs. I am well behaved and am quickly learning the rules around here – like not climbing on the kitchen counters. I get along with my roommate Taffy (except when she pushed me to my limits) and am fascinated watching her chase balls around, sometimes I even join in! It’s quiet here and nice to have all the attention on us so I think that’s what I would prefer. I sure would like to find a forever home where I can chill with my people. I do get along with other cats – not sure what dogs are but I’m told they have four legs. I like to play and chase balls or grab feathers but over all I’m pretty chill. I sure hope I find a forever home soon! Ask about me today. I am ready for you, neutered, de-wormed and vaccinated.

Purr Purr, my name is Smartie and I came into WHARF’s care in October 2017 with my sister Snickers and our daughters, Twix, Twizzler and Tootsie. Until WHARF took me in I spent all my life on the streets struggling to find food and avoid the nasty neighbours that didn’t like me. My foster mom is kind and gentle and she is helping me to learn that I can trust people. I have learnt that human touch is wonderful and I love to be pet, but I still do not like to be picked up. I love to play with string toys but I am very cautious and don’t like loud noises or sudden movements. I need a quiet home with a family that will give me the time I need to adjust and trust them. Psst – my name is Snickers and I am a very shy girl. I have been in WHARF’s care for over a year so it has taken me a long time to come around. I spent my entire life on the streets scrounging for food and avoiding nasty neighbors that would throw things at me and chase me away – then I met my foster mom. She has taught me it is okay to trust humans and I now enjoy being pet and I am starting to come out of my shell. I am still very nervous of loud noises and fast movements, I don’t like to be picked up and I am not sure what this “play” thing is all about. Taffy

Boy this is a change! I am a very petite girl and I was terribly scared and timid. I came from a hoarding house and was a teenage mom. At WHARF I hid as best I could and preferred to stay in my carrier the first two days at my foster home. Eventually I learned this place was very different and there was nothing to harm me here. I was fidgety with the grooming at first but I am getting used to it. Ritter, my roommate is a big guy and he intimidated me at first, but I have come out of my shell and have him wrapped around my little paw – as long as I don’t pester him too much. I am catching up on play, big time, and loving chasing balls around and skidding around on the tile floor. I love the toys I have to play with. I can’t believe life can be like this – it’s a second kittenhood. Initially I refused to be picked up, and I am still often fidgety but I’m getting used to it and even like to crawl on mom’s lap in the evenings. Mom gave me time to get used to these new digs and mostly let me choose when I wished to be near her. I’m learning how pleasurable it is to be held and cuddled but I’m still a bit nervous at times. I was spayed after being moved to foster care and I am so glad to finally have that awful cone off! I would love to find a forever home where I can feel safe and secure and continue to adjust to the good life. I’m still very nervous around strange people so a quiet home with no children would be my first choice. I’m used to other cats and would make a good friend for your feline companion. My foster mom has nick named me Missy ‘cuz I’m a fiesty, curious little girl with lots of spunk and very good toilet manners. I’m ready for adoption, spayed, vaccinated and de-wormed.

Trip

I came to WHARF as a stray cat. My leg was already missing and I had no traceable identification. I come off as the grumpiest 3 legged cat ever but believe my foster mom when she tells you that I am all talk. I am very agile with 3 legs and have no problem with stairs or jumping on the bed. I am in a foster home with kids cats and dogs whom I tolerate but am very vocal about the fact that I really think I should be living alone. I can live with other animals and little people but I’m definitely not shy about voicing my opinions. I am a prince, I’m sure my great, great grand cat came from Egypt. So remember that when you bring me home…once a prince always a prince.

Twix

I have a reduced adoption fee due to my time in care. Adopt me today for $170.

I’ve been in care for over a year! I am patiently waiting for my forever home!

I am Twix, and I am a sweet cat who came into WHARF foster care in October with my almost identical sister Twizzler, another kitten Tootsie, and three mama cats. We spent the first few months of our lives without any human contact and we had neighbors who were not very nice to us, so I am still quite apprehensive around people. I can be held and pet, but you will have to work a little bit to get me to agree to do this. I do love to play with other cats and kittens, but don’t like any sudden movements. I would prefer a quiet home with people who are patient and will allow me to take the time I need to adjust. If possible, it would be great if I could find a home with my sister Twizzler as we have spent our entire lives together and she is my best friend. I am spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and tattooed.

Twizzler

I’ve been in care for over a year! I am patiently waiting for my forever home.

My name is Twizzler, and just like my wonderful sister Twix, I came into WHARF foster care in October 2017 with another kitten and three mama cats. For the few months of my life I didn’t have much human contact, other than some neighbours who were not very nice and threw things at me and chased me away. I do enjoy playing with the other foster cats I live with, but it takes quite of bit of nerve for me to warm up to humans. I do like pets from my foster mom and will sleep on the bed with her but everything is on my terms. If you are patient, give me lots of attention and avoid sudden movements, I will most definitly overcome my shyness and warm up to you. My other sister Tootise, Twix and I were named at Halloween when my mom was handing out candy – maybe that’s why we are all so sweet!  I am very bonded with my sister Twix and would love to be adopted with her if you are interested in twins. I am spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and tattooed.
